Strength and Conditioning

The year-round strength and conditioning program behind Ranger football.

Explosive Strength

The program is built around explosive strength: the capacity to deliver maximum force in minimal time. The goal is to create athletes, not just football players, with the ability to generate force fast and to decelerate under control.

Everything starts with mastering five fundamental exercises:

  1. Power Clean
  2. Bench Press
  3. Squat
  4. Push Ups
  5. Pull Ups

Once the basics are mastered, athletes advance to speed and power training with an emphasis on technical precision, moving through four training phases before competition readiness. In the summer the approach shifts to a single core lift each day with supplementary work, so varied summer schedules still fit.

Athlete Health and Nutrition

Wellness is the foundation under all of it: stretching and a proper diet support the muscle the training builds. Athletes in phase 3 may train up to three sessions a day and burn 2,500+ calories, so the program recommends fueling with 4,000 or more calories across 5 to 6 meals.

A sample budget snack (503 calories):

  • Banana: 105 calories
  • Chocolate milk (8 oz): 209 calories
  • Peanut butter and jelly sandwich: 189 calories

Recovery matters too: the Stretching playlist on the Ranger Nation YouTube channel has yoga and mobility routines.
