Why Volunteer?
Every Hour Helps a Ranger
You do not need special skills, a lot of time, or a son on the varsity roster. You need an hour and a willingness to help.
Why It Matters
Friday nights run on volunteers. The chain crew, the concession stand, team meals, merchandise sales, the program table and gameday operations are all families like yours. The coaches coach; the Booster Club makes the rest of the night happen.
- Your player sees you there. Showing up on the sideline says the program matters, more clearly than saying so at home.
- You get to know the program. The coaches, the staff, the other families, and how a game week actually runs.
- Every level benefits. Volunteers feed the varsity, work the freshman games and stock the JV sideline. It is one program.
- It is genuinely flexible. One quarter at the merch table counts. So does dropping off a meal.
Get Approved First
Leander ISD approves every volunteer who helps on campus or at any school event, home or away, and it runs a background check as part of that. It covers the concession stand, the merch table, team meals served at school, chaperones, and anyone working a game. It is not needed to donate, sponsor, or grant a wish.
Approval lasts one school year. Even if you volunteered last season, you need to apply again for 2026-2027. Approval can take up to two weeks, so it is worth doing before the game you have in mind.
- Complete the district’s volunteer application. It opens in Raptor, the system Leander ISD uses for volunteer records.
- Wait for the district to confirm your approval. Allow up to two weeks.
- Pick something on the Opportunities page and sign up.
Other Ways to Help
The Booster Club always needs people to chair or help run a committee for the season. See the committees that are open, or get in touch and we will find something that fits. Not a volunteer person? The Support page has every other way to get behind Ranger football.
- Save your bottles. The student section’s shakers are made from empty Gatorade bottles, sturdy water bottles and screw-cap metal cans, and the Spirit Committee needs hundreds more. Collect a bag and email vistaridgespirit@gmail.com to arrange a drop-off.
- Join a spirit crew. Cups on the Fence on Saturday mornings, footballs on the light poles, locker room decorating and the Spirit Line send-off all run on parents who just show up. Email vistaridgespirit@gmail.com and ask your team liaison for the Spirit Committee GroupMe.
